Chemicals maker A. Schulman Inc (SHLM) will pay $191 million in cash and stock for ICO Inc (ICOC), a maker of specialty chemicals for textiles, plastic bags and other uses, the two companies said on Wednesday. The deal is comprised of $105 million in cash and 5.1 million shares of A. Schulman common stock, valuing ICO at about $6.79 per share, compared to its Wednesday close of $4.50 on the Nasdaq. Shares of ICO Inc. soared on the news nearly 50% on six times the average trading volume.
