Default TSE: MFI - Maple Leaf Foods Inc.

MAPLE LEAF FOODS INC.

Maple Leaf Foods Inc. (Maple Leaf) is a meat, meals and bakery company serving wholesale, retail and foodservice customers across North America and internationally. The Company operates in three segments: the Meat Products Group, the Agribusiness Group and the Bakery Products Group. Meat Products Group comprises processed packaged meats; chilled meal entrees and lunch kits, and pork, poultry and turkey products, and global meat sales. Agribusiness operations include swine production and animal by-products recycling operations. Bakery Products Group comprises the Company’s 89.8% ownership in Canada Bread Company, Limited, a producer of bakery products including breads, rolls, bagels, artisan and sweet goods, sandwiches and fresh pasta and sauces. On January 29, 2008, the Company acquired the shares of Aliments Martel Inc. During the year ended December 31, 2008, the Company sold most of its Ontario hog production operations and all of its wholly owned production investments in Alberta.

Maple Leaf Foods Inc. is in Precautionary recall of 9 Products. Maple Leaf's products are in many of Canada's small and large food chain restaurants, grocery stores, etc. Last year more of their foods were recalled and it had a huge negative effect on both the company and the public. The stock did drop today, but we're not sure how long these foods will be recalled for. It still puts a bad eye towards to company.

another mess up on MFI's part....With more humans on the planet, food safety is going to become a bigger issue, going forward. We need more regulation to insure these issues happen less likely

i agree with you loose_change there needs to be a regulation in some form to keep a closer watch of the production of the food to ensure these mistakes are cut down or eliminated completely. saying that MFI is back up and climbing so far today. i dont know what to think anymore.

It is a dissapointing known fact that as production increases efficiency and quality decrease. The more demand of the company, the less time and quality into each activity resulting in these sort of devastating recalls that threaten the health of people.

It is sad that this is the case, and I agree with the comments above that something needs to changed or people just need to become less careless.

In terms of the stock. Just looks like the gap was filled from this morning. I am eager to see what the afternoon brings and how it effects the rest of the week until more light is shed on the issue.

well stated Donca! After the last mess up, the CEO went on national tv and apologized. The public took the news well considering, I was hoping for a bigger pullback on this recent news so i could get in a long position and benefit on the short term weakness.
